The Claude Lucas Bluegrass Band
A Legendary Old-Time Fiddle Player From Gaston, SC and his Band

81 year old Claude Lucas has been fiddling since the 1940s, and plays an energetic old time style of fiddle that is uniquely his own. Claude told me that he was influenced by fiddlers such as Curly Fox and Pappy Sherrill, both of whom he heard on the radio when he was growing up near Gaston, SC. Claude's CD that was just released in January 2013 includes many old fiddle favorites such as Black Mountain Rag, Katy Hill, Johnson's Old Gray Mule, and Orange Blossom Special, as well as traditional bluegrass standards such as Bluebirds Are Singing For Me and Old Slewfoot. Claude is joined by the other members of his band, including his son Jimmy Lucas, his young cousin Marcus Lucas, and long time friend, traditional bluegrasser Chris Boutwell. You are sure to enjoy this CD from one of South Carolina's folk music treasures, Claude Lucas.
