PAT J. AHRENS
THE LEGACY OF TWO LEGENDS, SNUFFY JENKINS AND PAPPY SHERRILL
120pg book documenting the musical legacy of South Carolina country music pioneers

Bluegrass Historian Pat J. Ahrens of Columbia, SC, presents the story of country music pioneers Dewitt "Snuffy" Jenkins and Homer "Pappy" Sherrill, who played music from the 1930s until their deaths in 1990 and 2001, respectively. For years they were members of the Hired Hands, who played on radio and TV station WIS in Columbia, SC. Snuffy was one of the pioneers of the 3 finger banjo style that later became known as bluegrass banjo, and he predated Earl Scruggs by more than a decade. Pappy was Snuffy's fiddle playing musical partner for over 50 years. Complete with many photos and history.
